Having released albums
as Guineo and Push Button Objects, in addition to serving as one-half
of Ko-Wreck Technique, Edgar Farinas has become a master of digital
disguises. Mastering a cross-pollination of hip-hop, Detroit Techno
and Miami Bass, Edgar is as adept at making the party jump off with
his beats as he is with providing music to make you nostalgic for
othertimes. Not an easy feat for any musician, but he makes it seem
effortless.
Beginning his recording career in 1997 with an EP released on Schematic,
Farinas would release most of his recordings from that point on
with Chocolate Industries. 1998’s “Unauthorized”
featured a remix from Gescom, the more danceable side of Autechre;
1999’s “Half Dozen” led to “Dirty
Dozen,” sparking a bright creative period.
Edgar would appear later on that year as one-half of the duo Ko-Wreck
Technique, releasing the “Ko-Wrecktion” EP to critical |

acclaim. “360 Degrees,”
featuring Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Mr. Lif and DJ Craze, would
become a college radio hit, followed closely by remixed versions
that fared
equally as well. “Tosstones,” recorded under the name
Guineo, would become a
sought-after release, made rare due to the fact that all copies
subsequently sold out.
Next came “Ghetto Blaster,” a crazy mix of bangers and
chill beats. Featuring Dose One, Aesop Rock and Vast Aire among
others, this album
simultaneously brought the ruckus and served as peace mediator.
