Originally from Silver Spring, Maryland and now located in New York, Chris Moore's musings under the project name While has produced some of the most unusual and personal music in the Chocolate catalogue. He emerged from the underbelly of the nation's capital, but not unscathed, as his future apocalyptic jams, tender introspections, and propensity to avoid attention and spotlight all demonstrate.
While's influences are vast, and this range is reflected in his work. Following his first release (an EP for Germany's Musik Aus Strom label), While's Chocolate debut was with the EP Lock in 2000, which featured beats reminiscent of early See Feel paired with the type of sounds one might expect to hear from the dark machinations of Coil or Disjecta. That followed by the 'Haze' single, which led up to the full-length Even.

Even furthered While's bizarre compositional aesthetic, which evolved from an initial nod to IDM vets like Aphex and Autechre into something singular: An epic of freeform electronics and glitchy jazz. Meanwhile, the companion release Slip features reworks from Even along with four remixes from Savath + Savalas, Fennesz, A Grape Dope (John Herndon of Isotope 217 / Tortoise) and While's cinematic beats and lush sound textures.
